Steel Clubs

Why Steel Clubs Are One Of The Greatest Exercise Tools Known To Man.

The “Club” is said to be the most ancient training tool used by man.

The club’s effectiveness and value has withstood the test of time. It has been adopted in various forms by cultures across the globe. So why mess with a good thing, right?

As with all good things, there comes a time when it must be re-visited, re-scrutinized and re-evaluated if it is to become better, if it is to continue serving to the same capacity with each age, with each evolution of civilization.

And in the last decade that time has come once again. With it’s most recent emergence and evolution coming in the form of the modern Steel Club!

The Steel Club is an ideal tool for:

  • Moving through the 6 Degree’s of Freedom our bodies are meant to move in.
  • Strength training that decompresses and lubricates the joints, rather than compressing and depleting them of all nutrients and shock absorption. Giving you pain-free joints and movement!
  • Increased force production, leading to strength and power due to its off-center of mass, with a lighter weight, to ensure optimal health and longevity. Keeps you going strong well into advanced age.
  • Increasing levels of sophistication to ensure continued nervous system stimulation. You will never get bored.
  • Strengthening of tendons and ligaments to support the muscles gained and what you use them for. For a decreased rate of injury.
  • Last but not least….having fun!

Another advantage of the Steel Club is the ability to micro adjust the “weight”.

With the off-center weight distribution, if you simply move your hands closer to the center of mass, it becomes “lighter” because the leverage disadvantage is decreased.

You want to make it “heavier”, simply move your hands further away from the center of mass and bring your hands closer together.

You can’t do this with a dumbbell or even Kettlebell. It’s fixed weight is it’s fixed weight. You want to increase resistance, you have to get the next size up.

With the Steel Club however, you can go slightly heavier knowing you can adjust until you are strong enough to handle the weight at full length.

What size, How many
and Where can I buy them?

To take the greatest advantage of Steel Club training initially,
you will need 1 pair of lighter steel clubs and 1 single heavier steel club.

Steel Club Weight Recommendations
If you’re just starting out and don’t have much experience with strength training in general:

  • Men – 1 pair of 10 lbs and a single 20 lbs
  • Women – 1 pair of 5 lbs and a single 10 lbs

If you exercise fairly regularly (at least 3 times a week) and have some experience with strength training:

  • Men – 1 pair of 15 lbs and a single 25 lbs
  • Women – 1 pair of 5 lbs and a single 15 lbs

If you’re an advanced athlete with a lot of strength training experience:

  • Men – 1 pair of 15 lbs and a single 35 lbs
  • Women – 1 pair of 10 lbs and a single 20 lbs

After moving through any of the Club Evolution™ Steel Club Workout Programs programs from beginning to end once, you WILL be ready to move up to the next weight class should you choose to do so.

Steel Club Weight Recommendations:
Specifically for Club FLOW Evolution™

Hurricane Healing Mobility™

Because the focus of this program is mobility, the weight is the same whether beginner or advanced:

  • Men: single 5 lbs
  • Women: single 5 lbs

Flow Force Endurance™

With the varying repetition options (all higher in nature), you don’t need heavy weights to be challenged. If you’ve been through it once at the highest rep count, then you can certainly move up one weight class.

  • Men: pair of 5 – 10 lbs (moving up to 15 lbs when ready. Note: VERY challenging)
  • Women: pair of 5 lbs (moving up to 10 lbs when ready)

Cyclone Strength™

If you’re just starting out and don’t have much experience with strength training in general:

  • Men – single 15 lbs
  • Women – single 10 lbs

If you exercise fairly regularly (at least 3 times a week) and have some experience with strength training:

  • Men – single 20 lbs
  • Women – single 15 lbs

If you’re an advanced athlete with a lot of strength training experience:

  • Men – single 25 lbs*
  • Women – single 20 lbs*

*From a strength perspective you could probably handle the 35 lbs and 25 lbs respectively. But from a Steel Club training perspective, if you haven’t the experience yet, it would be too heavy and not give you the opportunity to get the technique smooth, which is paramount.

Especially in context to this program because we are working up to flows. Go lighter to begin with the first time through and then you’ll be ready to challenge yourself with more. You will no doubt find the recommended weights, in this program, most challenging as it is.

IMPORTANT: The weights distributed as they are in steel clubs, feel much heavier than their numerical number. Don’t be surprised if even the big strong guys have to drop down to 10 lbs or 15 lbs for some of the movements. Bare that in mind when making your purchase.
